Henrietta Newman runs her own furniture-making workshop in Dorset. She studied at the Portsmouth College of Art and went on to get a BA Hons in Three Dimensional Design specialising in wood and ceramics from Manchester Metropolitan University.

In 1997 she set up her own business, Yeti Designs, working mostly with laminated plywood. The pieces she makes, usually to commission, tend to be a mix of planes and wide gentle curves, creating crisp, modern, practical furniture.

"I believe that the shapes of the structure should stand for themselves and that further ornamentation is unnecessary. The logic and geometry of engineering let form grow out of necessity. Emphasis on proportion and economic use of line and shape increase the dramatic impact of structure. Good design works well, looks simple and is timeless."
